Where it grows
This Echinocereus species occurs in many areas of Mexico as well as parts of Texas.
Special features
Echinocereus reichenbachii is a short, cylindrical and branching species of cactus with maroon-brown thorns interspersed with white ‘hair’. Its most attractive feature is its iridescent pink flowers and dark green pistils.
Care guide
Echinocereus reichenbachii need plenty of light and should be planted under 40% shade cloth, at most. The more light they receive, the more colorful they will become. They are incredibly sensitive to overwatering and should be planted in a gritty, fast draining soil mix that does not hold much water. A mix involving Akadama and pumice is ideal. Water often in summer, but keep completely dry in winter.
