This is a variegated specimen of Ferocactus stainesii. This plant was grown from seed in South Africa, and has never been imported or grafted.

Ferocactus are not difficult to care for. This genus prefers light shade, but can be acclimatized to full sun. Plant Ferocactus stainesii in a gritty soil mix that drains freely. Water it well in spring and summer, but keep dry in autumn and winter so that it can have a rest period.
