Where it grows
Haworthia retusa is native to the Western Cape of South Africa. The variegated form is very rare and is generally only grown in nurseries.
Special features
This Haworthia has attractive white variegation on much of its leaf surface, contrasting well with its normal dark green chlorophyll.
It also has some reverse or ‘Aurea’ variegated characteristics, with the chlorophyll growing deeper in the leaf tissues than normal. This chlorophyll grows under the variegated tissues and appears grayish-green.
Care Guide
Haworthia are shade loving succulents and need to be kept under at least 60% shade cloth. They require gritty soil mixes and will thrive in a mixture involving Ibaraki Akadama and Hyuga pumice. Water them well throughout the year, particularly in winter, but make sure the soil dries out somewhat between waterings.

Autumn and winter.
