Where it grows
Lithops salicola is native to the Free State province of South Africa, with some populations also occurring in the Cape provinces.
Special features
Lithops salicola ‘Sato’s Violet’ is a purple form of this species. The stem itself is light purple, and the leaf windows are dark purple.
Care guide
Lithops prefer a lot of light and need an exceptionally well-drained soil. This genus needs very little water, and should only be watered during the growing season beginning late autumn until early spring, but not if it is in the process of ‘splitting’ (shedding its old leaves and growing new ones).
