R750 incl. VAT

Plants for sale are approximately 6 years old, of flowering age, and were grown from seed.

Where it grows

Native to the Cardona locality of Mexico.

Special features

Gray-green cactus that forms white hair on the areoles and growth point at maturity. They have sharp-petalled pinkish-white flowers in spring.

Care guide

This cactus should be kept under at least 40% shade cloth to avoid sunburn. They have incredibly large and thick taproots, and should be planted in a deep pot with gritty soil to accommodate these roots. Water them well during the summer months, but keep utterly dry during the colder times of the year, as they require a rest period to flower. If you want to encourage the formation of more white hair on the stem, only water from the bottom.

Growing season

Spring and summer.

Propagation

Seeds and offsets.
