Where it grows
This cactus is indigenous to Mexico and Texas.
Special features
This plant is also known as an ‘artichoke’ cactus due to its appearance. It is the only plant in the genus Obregonia. It has layered, triangle shaped protrusions covering its stem. It produces pure white flowers.
These particular specimens have orange-yellow variegation covering portions of their stems.
Care Guide
Obregonia prefers full morning sun, or light shade. This is not an easy species to take care of, as it is quite water sensitive and prone to rot. A 1:1:1 mix of Ibaraki Akadama:Hyuga Pumice:Perlite is recommended. It is highly important to only water these plants in spring and summer, as doing so in winter will cause rot.
