Where it grows
This cactus is indigenous to Mexico and Texas.
This plant is also known as an ‘artichoke’ cactus due to its appearance. It is the only plant in the genus Obregonia. It has layered, triangle shaped protrusions covering its stem. It produces pure white flowers.
These particular specimens have orange-yellow variegation covering portions of their stems.
Obregonia prefers full morning sun, or light shade. This is not an easy species to take care of, as it is quite water sensitive and prone to rot. A 1:1:1 mix of Ibaraki Akadama:Hyuga Pumice:Perlite is recommended. It is highly important to only water these plants in spring and summer, as doing so in winter will cause rot.

This is a rare black cultivar of Gymnocalycium mihanovichii, a hybrid of the cultivars LBHB x Black Widow. The stem is super dark in colouration.
Mammillaria elongata f. cristata, otherwise known as the 'brains cactus'. Brains cacti form compact ridges of contorted, overlapping stems which give these plants the appearance of a human brain.
This special Astrophytum asterias has yellow variegation covering much of the stem. It also has attractive fluffy areoles.
