Where it grows
Orbea variegata is native to coastal areas of the Western Cape of South Africa.
Orbea variegata is a diminutive Stapeliad that forms dense mats over time. It flowers in spring. The crested form has a flat, upright growth form.
Orbea variegata prefers shady conditions and should be kept under 60% shadecloth. It should be planted in a well draining soil mix with some gritty components. Water well in spring and summer, but reduce watering during winter when it is dormant.
