Where it grows
Tulista opalina is endemic to the Western Cape of South Africa. It occurs on only one isolated hill on a farm called ‘Brandrivier’ in the Little Karoo.
Special features
Tulista opalina is one of the most attractive Tulista species, with densely speckled, translucent-white tubercles and light green colour. It does not produce offsets, but the rosette becomes quite large as it matures.
Care guide
Tulista opalina can handle a decent amount of light, and does best in early morning sun or under 60% shade cloth. They need a decently gritty soil mix that lets water drain freely, as they are prone to root rot. You can water them throughout the year, but they should receive less water in summer during their dormant season.
Growing season
Autumn and winter.
Propagation
Seeds and leaves.
