Living Desert Plants had a stall at the second annual Vanrhynsdorp Succulent Festival, hosted at Letsatsi Lodge. This event took place on the 4th and 5th of March 2023. It was a true celebration of plant beauty, and we wanted to share our experiences and impressions of the festival with you.
The Vanrhynsdorp Succulent Festival is always a delight for those who appreciate the unique and diverse world of succulents, and this year was no exception. The festival grounds were buzzing with excitement, and visitors of all ages were eager to explore the different exhibitions, displays, and activities.
The main highlight of the festival was the plant market, where vendors from all over the Western Cape had set up their stalls. The variety of plants was incredible, with many rare and exotic species. We spotted many unique specimens, and came home with a variegated Gymnocalycium cactus and variegated Haworthia truncata as the firm favourites. We also branched out of our comfort zone and grabbed some incredibly rare Eriospermum bulbs, which we just could not resist!
The LDP team stayed at Letsatsi Lodge for the duration of the event, and we enjoyed delicious food at the Red Ox Steakhouse for breakfast and dinner. We were also entertained by live music from the local ‘boereorkes’ that showcased the vibrant spirit of the community.
The Vanrhynsdorp Succulent Festival 2023 was a fantastic event that brought together succulent enthusiasts, locals, and visitors from all over South Africa. We left feeling inspired and grateful for the beauty of plants and the people who share our passion for them. We are appreciative of Eduard and Monica for organizing the event, and look forward to next year’s festival!
