Living Desert Plants had our first ever stall at the annual Tokara Rare Plant Fair, hosted at Tokara Wine Estate. This event took place on the 22nd of April 2023. It was a spectacular display of plants, and not just succulents!
This event is always a delight for those who appreciate the unique and diverse world of plants. This year was no exception. Despite wind and rain, the venue was filled to the brim with visitors of all ages. All of them were excited to explore the various stalls and get some cool plants. This included the LDP team. It’s always great having a sneak peak at all the plants while setting up our stall!
The main highlight of the festival was the plant market, where vendors from all over South Africa had set up their stalls. The variety of plants was incredible, with many rare and exotic species. We spotted many unique specimens. This year, we came home with a monstrose Euphorbia hybrid. We also scored a gigantic Monilaria moniliformis (bunny ears succulent) as the firm favourites. There was also a variety of food and drink vendors. On this cold day, we were particularly appreciative of the availability of some nice warm coffee!
The 2023 Tokara Rare Plant Fair was a fantastic plant sale that brought together plant enthusiasts, locals, and visitors from all over South Africa. We are appreciative of Tokara Wine Estate for organizing the event, and look forward to next year’s fair!
