Where it grows
The natural form of Haworthia truncata occurs in the semi-arid Little Karoo, between Oudtshoorn, De Rust and Calitzdorp in the Western Cape of South Africa.
Special features
This Haworthia truncata cultivar has extra large leaves that appear to have tusks, much like its namesake.
Care guide
Haworthia truncata ‘Mammoth’ can handle a bit more light than most Haworthia, but should still be kept in filtered light. 60% shade cloth is ideal. It must be planted in a well draining soil mix that includes plenty of gritty material like Akadama and Pumice. Water it well throughout the year, but make sure that the soil dries before watering again. Avoid watering on overly hot days. Do not let water sit between the leaves, as this will cause rot.
Growing season
Autumn and spring.
Propagation
Leaves, roots, and offsets.
