Where it grows
Haworthiopsis nigra is native to a wide variety of localities in all three Cape provinces of South Africa, mainly to regions in the Great Karoo.
Special features
Haworthiopsis nigra is a tall growing species, with dark, nearly black colouration and roughly tubercled triangular leaves. This species offsets profusely and will form large clusters over time.
Care Guide
Haworthiopsis are shade loving succulents and need to be kept under at least 60% shade cloth. They require gritty soil mixes and will thrive in a mixture involving Ibaraki Akadama and Hyuga pumice. Water them well throughout the year, particularly in winter, but make sure the soil dries out somewhat between waterings.
