Rainbow Cactus – Echinocereus rigidissimus v. rubispinus

R300 incl. VAT

Where it grows

Native to Mexico.

Special features

Bright red spines set these plants apart from other Echinocereus, which usually have white spines. They produce very large, bright pink flowers during spring.

Care guide

These cacti need plenty of light and should be planted under 40% shade cloth, at most. The more light they receive, the more colorful they will become. They are incredibly sensitive to overwatering and should be planted in a gritty, fast draining soil mix that does not hold much water. A mix involving Akadama and pumice is ideal. Water often in summer, but keep completely dry in winter.

Growing season

Spring and summer.

Propagation

Seeds.
