Where it grows
Haworthia maughanii occurs in the semi-arid Little Karoo, in the Western Cape of South Africa.
Special features
Haworthia maughanii is also known as ‘beestande’ or ‘cow’s teeth’. This species is closely related toΒ Haworthia truncata and occurs in quite similar habitats. The leaf windows are rounded, and the plants grow in an attractive spiraling shape.
This particular specimen has yellow/orange variegation and very attractive leaf window markings.
Care guide
Like most Haworthia, this plant likes a moderate climate and thrives in the spring and autumn months. A well drained, airy soil mix is ideal. Thoroughly water in the growing season making sure to dry the soil out in between each watering session. Haworthia maughanii is one of the few Haworthia that can be adjusted to stronger light, but for optimal growth dappled light is preferred.
